My Reading Intervention Approach

My instruction is grounded in the Orton-Gillingham (OG) approach.  OG is a direct, systematic, multisensory method of teaching reading, spelling, and written language.  I provide individualized intervention for students with dyslexia and other reading and writing challenges.

Rather than following a single program, I draw from a toolbox of evidence-based instructional methods and curricula to design intervention that meets each student's needs.

Multisensory Structured Literacy

Instruction integrates visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile pathways to strengthen reading, spelling, writing, and language learning.

Diagnostic and Prescriptive Teaching

Each session is individualized based on assessment, observation, and ongoing progress monitoring.  Instruction evolves as students grow and instruction is adjusted to meet each student's specific learning profile.

Explicit and Sequential Instruction

Skills are taught in a carefully planned sequence-from foundational decoding and spelling patterns through more advanced reading comprehension and written expression.

Tools and Instructional Frameworks I May Incorporate

Depending on the student's profile and goals, instruction may include:

     -Orton-Gillingham (OG) methods

     -The IMSE Structured Literacy Curriculum

For foundational reading and spelling instruction

    -The Writing Revolution (Hochman Method)

To strengthen sentence structure, written expression, and organization

    -Wilson-Just Words

For older students who benefit from explicit decoding and spelling instruction

    -Morphology Instruction

Word structure, prefixes, suffices, Greek and Latin roots,

    and advanced spelling patterns

Building Independent Learners

My goal is not simply improved reading scores for your child.  My goal is  to help students become more independent, capable learners while fostering stronger reading, writing, and academic confidence over time.  Instruction takes place in a warm, welcoming, peaceful environment designed to help students feel comfortable, supported, and ready to learn.
